Recently Purchased
Sprys Kookaburra K509
Shamrock Shorthorns have recently purchased Sprys Kookaburra K509 from Sprys Shorthorns. The first of his progeny will be on the ground in the Spring of 2016.
Spring Joining
Currently our cows are being joined with a combination of AI and paddock mating. Influential AI sires include Sprys Primrose Buddy and Sprys Double Barrell. A son of Sprys Patent’s Ace, Shamrock Royal Flush has been depastured with our autumn calvers and will also be used in the spring joining along with Sprys Molly’s Informant and the recently purchased Sprys Kookaburra.
Irish Trip
We were pleased to have the opportunity to inspect some Patent’s Ace progeny on our recent trip to Shorthorn studs in Ireland. The breeders there, like us, are in a fight for market share with other breeds, not the least of which the Angus, but like us, are determined to come out on top.
Introducing
Shamrock Border Leicesters
The Shamrock Border Leicester Stud was registered in 2015 following the purchase of six ewes and lambs from the Retallack stud in 2012 and five ewes and a Sire from Kelso Park in 2013. An additional 13 ewes in lamb were purchased from Kelso Park in June 2014 and a further 24 ewe hoggets from the same source prior to joining in 2015.
The aim of the Dwyer family is to carry on the exceptional work of George, Ray and Bruce Starritt in producing highly productive and functional ‘Borders’ for Australian conditions.
A complete dispersal has been achieved of 2012 and 2013 drop rams and 2014 are available the spring of 2015.
